More information: In May 1977 Genesis released Spot the Pigeon, an EP featuring three tracks left off Wind & Wuthering. It peaked at No. 14 on the UK singles chart and was the final Genesis release prior to Steve Hackett’s departure.
The name of Genesis next studio album, And Then There Were Three expressed well the group’s dwindling line-up, now made up of just Phil Collins, Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford. The record was released in March ’78 and received mixed reviews from critics, but reached No. 3 on the UK Albums Chart and No. 14 on the US Billboard 200. The lead single ‘Follow You Follow Me’ became their highest charting hit at that point, reaching No. 7 in the UK and No. 23 in the US.
To further promote the release, Genesis toured worldwide with their new live guitarist Daryl Stuermer. By October they were in the mid-west of the US, and on 13th of the month they performed a quite dazzling show at Chicago’s Uptown Theater. Featuring a number of cuts from the new record, plus many more from their extensive back catalogue, the extraordinary event was recorded for live FM Broadcast across the mid-western states.
Previously unreleased, this superb recording is now available on this new 2-CD Set, allowing fans to both hear and own a little bit more of Genesis’ fascinating and joyous musical history.
Note: Recording quality can vary on FM broadcast releases.
