More information: “The album was written with the annual Magenta Acapela gig ensemble in mind. Sound-wise, I was thinking of the type of set-up we have at those gigs with acoustic piano, woodwind and strings, as a way of adding some more colours, so it was not just an album of guitars. There are a few ‘band’ orientated tunes on the album as well as a trios for guitar, cello and violin and duos for piano and guitar where the challenge was to balance the broader range and volume of the piano to match the smaller output of an acoustic guitar.
Our extended Magenta family, Katie Axelsen on flute and Eric Wolfe-Gordon on oboe, also make guest appearances.
My brother Dan had the job of mixing it all together and I’m hoping to play many of these new songs at future gigs with Dan in our duo format, or extend to more of a band if the opportunity arises.
The album title is a mix of references: one - to the old Cinema ‘Filmed in Glorious Technicolour’ slogans as some of the tunes have a soundtrack type of vibe, and two - it was the name of the first band I played in”. (Chris Fry)
