Review: These are archive recordings from the halcyon lost period of VDG recorded between 1972 and 1975: Post “Pawn Hearts and pre “Godbluff”. Peter Hammill personally compiled the album from rare and archive tapes. Some overdubs were added but the whole album was recorded in nine hours to retain the spirit of the original venture. Some are studio live recordings and others are studio rarities. They are often works in progress that never made it vinyl in this form but have the basis for later tracks. It has at times a random freeform nature with some band versions of solo songs. The tracks have been re-mastered and now posses a clarity and depth that they previously lacked.
