Review: German multi-instrumentalist, singer, producer and control freak "t", is back with his 3rd album. After fronting German progrock masterminds "Scythe" and 2 highly acclaimed solo albums, he took four years to write, perform, mix, produce and co-master "Anti-Matter Poetry", a 68 minute concept album. t, again, played all the instruments and sang all parts here. Art is a bitch, and so is literature - and music. they always present us worlds well out of reach - pipedream kingdoms of epic journeys, heroism, boundless yearning and lots of all the things we are, well, let's face it, not. Art is, insofar, simply destructive for your everyday middle class John Doe. It makes him long for things he neither really wants or needs: danger, uncertainty, lovesickness, bleeding hearts, je ne sais quoi. So, for our private universe, poetry is condensed destruction. It is antimatter. This album deals with the cliches that we retreat to when we celebrate unrest. When we crave for craving. When we swap the sun for a black hole. When we die a little to feel our lives again. This album is furious about the stupidity behind this. It is also helpless in avoiding it. It is a one-way street monologue. It is anti-matter poetry.

Review: The Tangent have now managed to re-invent themselves so many times that it's hard to count all the people who have been in it. But every line-up has succeeded in delivering top class Progressive Rock music. This is their sixth studio album for Insideout Music, and is the debut studio recording of Luke Machin, a stunning 22 year old guitar player who has taken fans by storm at gigs around Europe in the past 18 months. Despite his youth, Luke is heavily influenced by the great progressive rock guitarists from Francis Dunnery to Andy Latimer, Allan Houldsworth and Daniel Gildenlow. COMM has taken 2 years to write and record.

The cover artworks marks a return to the popular partnership between The Tangent and Belarussian artist Ed Unitsky

Review: Newly remastered and expanded edition of Tangerine Dream's 1971 album Alpha Centauri .

Recorded at the Dierks Studio in Stommeln, the album featured a line up of Edgar Froese, Chris Franke and Steve Schroyder with guests Udo Dennebourg (flute) and Roland Pualyck (synthesiser).

Released in Germany on the OHR label, the influence of the album was immense, with the band creating imaginative sound-scapes previously unheard on record.

This edition is newly re-mastered and includes three bonus tracks: Ozillator Planet Concert has never been released on CD and was issued as part of the 1971 double album Ossiach Live . Also included are both sides of the classic Ultima Thule single issued in Germany in 1971.

The release fully restores the original album artwork and includes a lavishly illustrated booklet with new essay.

Review: California rockers TESLA will release "Twisted Wires And The Acoustic Sessions" in Europe on July 25 via Scarlet Records. The CD, which will be released in North America on July 12, will feature six songs that were recorded back in 2005 at bassist Brian Wheat's J Street Recorders studio — which also serve as the last recordings with original member Tommy Skeoch — and six newly recorded tracks, including acoustic remakes of songs from TESLA's entire catalog and two brand new songs, "Second Street" and "Better Off Without You". TESLA released a live album, "Alive In Europe!", in Europe on April 23, 2010. TESLA's latest studio album, "Forever More", sold more than 16,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 33 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD was released on October 7, 2008 on Tesla Electric Company Recordings. The European version of the album, which was made available on November 7 via Frontiers Records, contains two bonus tracks not found on the American version. For "Forever More", TESLA reunited with producer Terry Thomas, who was behind the boards for the band's 1994 gold-certified "Bust A Nut" album, and engineered by Michael Rosen who worked with TESLA on "Into The Now".

Tech-heads will often focus on the quintet’s time signatures and musical complexity, but TesseracT is far from an exclusionary exercise in tech metal pomposity. They fully embrace their experimental, prog sensibility without excessive indulgence or pretentiousness, delivering atmospheric, metallic songs that stir strong emotions and evoke powerful mental images. All of which, they argue, are at the core surprisingly simple.

Review: In a world of increasing conformity and musical banality, Devin Townsend is among the few real personalities who have character, charisma and surprising innovative creativity. As a solo artist and producer, a member of the (by now disbanded) Strapping Young Lad, with whom he played Ozzfest and the main stage at the Download festival, and vocalist on Steve Vai’s album, Sex And Religion, – Townsend has always inspired fans and critics alike.

The latest chapter of his extremely diverse career is entitled Ki. “Ki is the first in a series of four albums under the moniker ‘Devin Townsend Project’. Each album is essentially a different band or collection of session musicians playing my music,” Townsend explains. “They were chosen based on what the theme of the album is and the vibe that the album is trying to project.
The album Ki is very specific in this quartet of albums in that it controls its anger throughout, barring one song - ‘Heaven Send’ - and really is an exercise in having little to prove.” The most renowned project member on Ki is drummer Duris Maxwell (62), who has played with many acts, such as Heart, Jefferson Airplane, The Powder Blues, Tommy Chong and The Temptations. Maxwell even jammed with Hendrix. “I am very conscious of drummers and the energy they bring to the bands,” Townsend says. “I went to a blues club way up in the North of Canada and watched Duris. He has the vibe I wanted for the drums here: nothing to prove, but strong and a bit angry. Duris is an older cat but he’s heavy. After an extremely difficult phase, Ki now sees him embark on an unmistakably new path. Although not overly aggressive, the album oozes a haunting intensity, a vitality which hides below a seemingly smooth surface. “Ki is a subtle, severe album, a challenge in some ways. The point to the music is that the whisper is louder than the roar in many ways. Ki is - on the surface - quiet and unassuming. Whenever it begins to lose its temper, it stops and doesn’t let go.

The Whirlwind fuses all four artist’s unique creativity, fulfilling six years of potential, and culminating in their best effort to date.
