Review: This is the second CD (and also the second part of the Emotional Creatures trilogy) by Steve Thorne, a talented songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from the south of England. Steve commands an enormous amount of respect from his fellow musicians and once again he has managed to attract a star-studded array of guests to play on this album, including Tony Levin (King Crimson / Peter Gabriel), Geoff Downes (Asia / Yes), Nick d’Virgilio (Spock’s Beard / Genesis / Tears For Fears), Gavin Harrison (Porcupine Tree) and Pete Trewavas from Marillion. However despite the all-star line-up, it is the quality of Steve’s songwriting that steals the show here with a breathtaking range of songs and atmospheric instrumental pieces. Steve’s richly melodic style should find favour with progressive rock listeners familiar with Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull and recent Marillion. Steve has recently completed an exhausting touring schedule that has seen him play as special guest to Marillion, It Bites, Steve Harley, Pendragon, IQ and Jadis, and more high profile gigs in the UK and Europe are planned to support the new CD.

Review: Thread is a collection of nine improvised pieces by Theo Travis (alto flute, soprano sax) and Robert Fripp (guitar, soundscapes). It was recorded at DGM Soundworld by David Singleton, with later editing/mixing and mastering courtesy of Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree).

Theo Travis is a London based saxophonist, flautist and composer who has made a number of recordings under his own name. He tours regularly with his own jazz quartet and composes and records with his experimental ambient band Cipher. He is also a member of Soft Machine Legacy and Gong. Additionally, Theo has performed and/or recorded with a diverse group of musicians including: Hatfield & the North, Porcupine Tree, David Sylvian and Jah Wobble.

Robert Fripp is a guitarist, composer and founding member of seminal rock band King Crimson with whom he continues to perform. He has issued a number of solo albums and collaborated and recorded with (among others) David Bowie, Brian Eno, Peter Gabriell, The Orb, Porcupine Tree and David Sylvian.

Review: This was the pinnacle of the Transatlantic trip. We were four days into our tour of Europe and it was the perfect time. We were together enough not to have to worry so much about making mistakes, and fresh enough to really enjoy the music, the audience, and each other. Pete, Roine and Mike were in rare form and I recall thinking what a gas it was. It was the only gig I've ever done where the audience wouldn't leave until we played another song. A wonderful gig I'll always remember. (Neal Morse)
