Review: RC2 was formed in Caracas, Venezuela (South America) during 1999. After a number of changes in personnel and geographic location (now located in Spain), the band was able to write and record new material and even managed to open for Dream Theater to a huge audience and
was a resounding success.

From the opening track, it is evident that the sound of RC2 has changed. Theirmetal edge collides with more classic sounding prog elements, and the compositions are more sophisticated and comlex.

Review: ABOUT THE EP: "'Dancing with Ghosts' is intended as both a stepping stone to my first full solo album 'First in a Field of One', and to draw a line under my previous activities with a certain Scottish rock band. The songs are stripped bare to the bone, with just voice, guitar, a smattering of keyboards and the occasional acoustic bass. After the 'sturm und drang' of my previous band it seemed a fresh way of looking at things - and it's also how I've been performing live. Review: What should be described as a true labor of love for drummer Chris Gorczyca was finally completed in 2008. The recorded work, a tribute CD of the music of his late brother Andrew, is the culmination of nearly four years’ effort devoted to countless studio recording sessions. At its core, the music would fall into the progressive rock category - given some of the elaborate arrangements and instrumentation. A total of eighteen progressive rock players were recorded in twelve different studios located in six different American cities. This host of artists associated with the genre (including Adrian Belew, Nick D’Virgilio, Dave Meros, Ryo Okumoto, Phil Keaggy, and Mike Keneally) provided the cast of players sought by Chris to re-create Andrew’s music with professional flair and credibility. Review: Renaissance was the band formed by Jim McCarthy and Keith Relf following the split of the Yardbirds in 1968. The band recorded their first album the self titled Renaissance album in 1969. Following the album's release the band embarked on a series of live dates in Europe and America. In 1970 they also began recording their second album Illusion which received a limited release in Europe in early 1971. By the time the album was released the band had become so fragmented that none of the original members were left in the band! Renaissance would however continue with various line ups until stabilising in the early seventies with the line up that would go on to massive critical and commercial success led by vocalist Annie Haslam. This DVD features two different line ups of Renaissance. The first two clips come from German TV and feature the original line up performing the tracks Kings And Queens and Island. These are the only known performances captured on film of the original line up performing live albeit in a TV studio. The second piece of footage is even rarer in that it was originally thought that this footage was lost. The footage provides the link between the original line up of Renaissance and the later more successful line up of the mid to late Seventies and comes from a line up that lasted a mere three months.. This time the band now feature no original members but two members that would go onto bigger fame in the seventies. John Tout is featured on keyboards and guitarist Mike Dunford play alongside vocalists Terry Crowe and Binky Cullom, bassist Neil Korner and drummer Terry Slade. The band perform Kings and Queens from the first Renaissance album and also tracks from the second Renaissance album Illusion (Golden Threads, Mr Pine and Face of Yesterday) there is also a song never officially recorded by Renaissance Widdicombe fair making this release a real find for the large and dedicated Renaissance fan base.

Features 2 different line ups of the band, including the only known footage of the original line up. Also inlcudes a song never officially recorded by Renaissance called Widdicombe Fair. This is an essential purchase for any Renaissance fans, regardless of the line up.

Review: For those who love the music of Renassance, this may be an unknown treasure. This album was surely overlooked when it was released in 2001. But first.a history lesson : in 1971 the first carnation of Renaissance disbanded after the second album Illusion and was replaced by the line-up for which the band became famous for. In 1976 the original band reunited without Keith Relf who died tragically the previous year. The band was called "Illusion" just like the second Renaissance album. After delivering two excellent albums the band dissolved again. In 2001 the band was reformed a second time when Jim McCarthy found he had written some Renaissance like tunes that would fit in perfectly on an album of Illusion/Renaissance. Soon original Renaissance members Jane Relf, John Hawken & Louis Cennamo joined McCarthy on this project and also a lot of session musician were brought in. (ProgArchives)

Review: The first DVD of one of the most important progressive rock bands! Riverside, the band hailing from Warsaw, Poland, can best be described as a stylistic blend of atmospheric rock and metal elements, resulting in a sound similar to that of Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree, Opeth, Dream Theater, and Tool, while still maintaining an identity of their own. Since the release of their debut album, Riverside have built a solid fan base in progressive rock genre. In May 2008, the band went on a mini-tour across Poland. The most significant date of the tour was May, 17th when Riverside played a special, over-two-hour gig in Toya Studios in Lódz. The show was treated as a summary of the “Reality Dream Trilogy” (Out Of Myself – 2003, Second Life Syndrome – 2005 & Rapid Eye Movement - 2007). Apart from the great performance of the most important songs from the band’s three big releases, the band also prepared the best lighting in their live history with a few screens that showed some special visuals. The concert in Lódz was recorded and, so far, it was available in a limited audio only edition during their “Reality Dream Tour” in December 2008. Today, the fans of Riverside have a chance to see that special performance in its full glory as it is released as a double DVD. Apart from the complete performance in Lódz, “Reality Dream” DVD also includes a selection of live performances in various places around the world, including Canada, Germany and Holland, plus a documentary “Behind the Curtain – A film by John Vis” and a photo gallery. Experts have called Riverside a stylistic mix of Tool, Porcupine Tree and Dream Theater, but Mariusz Duda reckons that other influences are more dominant on “Anno Domini High Definition”: “We wanted to reflect the energy of the early 70's and combine it with modern sounds. Anno Domini High Definition is no concept album in the classic sense, although it features a central theme and a haunting message. “It’s an album about people who know they need to speed up or they’ll get left behind“, Duda summarises the tracks, adding: “About people who sometimes, despite themselves, will stop at nothing to achieve their aims. It’s an album about chaos, constant race, uncertainty, stress, and the struggle to survive.”

This permanent inner restlessness, a constant search for the latest thing, is reflected in the band’s complex music. The five songs consciously keep up a high energy level, be it through a pounding groove, a turbulent bass line, cutting keyboard passages or haunting vocals. Anno Domini High Definition is a pulsating hybrid of a range of different stylistic means. Anno Domini High Definition sees Riverside take another step in the evolution of their extremely significant sound, documenting a total focus on the here and now. “We feel that we have something new to say, and lots of moments on this album feature a fresh approach to some things. First of all, our main influence – our lifes, or to be more precise, the speed of our lives. That’s why we had to cut an extremely dynamic record, which suits the times we live in.”

Review: In 2009 we were introduced to Terra Incognita: An innovative crossover project of fantasy on a grand scale - an epic novel by bestselling author Kevin J. Anderso and companion progressive rock CD. Following up the success of the first effort, 'A Line in the Sand' coincides with the release of the second novel, 'The Map Of All Things'. Featuring a different, grittier part of the story, focusing on the devastating generations-long war between continents, and it has an entirely different sound.

This time, the music is helmed by Henning Pauly (Frameshift, Chain, Shadows Mignon) who brings hard-driving guitars, passion, and thought-provoking complexity to the music. Vocals are by rock legends Steve Walsh (Kansas), Michael Sadler (ex-Saga), Sass Jordan (Album Rock's Female Vocalist of the Year), Alex Froese (Frameshift) and Nick Storr (The Third Ending), with guest appearances by Charlie Dominici, Juan Roos and Arjen A. Lucassen. Two of the songs, The Crown and Need, are co-written by Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Janis Ian.

Review: The Road Home is both homage and crowning achievement in prog rock’s great exploratory tradition. Just as Emerson rearranged Tchaikovsky, Rodrigo, Janacek, Copland, Mussorgsky and “Lux” Lewis, Rudess decodes established classics while sculpting his own distinctive style.

With the help of today’s leading prog talents (including friend/musical partner, Dixie Dregs drummer Rod Morgenstein), Rudess re-envisions Genesis’ 1976 jolting, jiggery-pokery gem “Dance on a Volcano” (with former Spock’s Beard frontman Neal Morse on vocals); ELP’s apocalyptic epic “Tarkus” (featuring Kip Winger and Porcupine Tree’s Steven Wilson); Yes’ fusion-esque, Minimoog/electric piano extravaganza “Sound Chaser” (from the oft-overlooked Relayer record); and the aforementioned “Just the Same.”

Review: The history of the ever mighty Rush goes back to 1968 when the group first got together, but it was not until 1974 that the band proper with Neal Peart joining Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson to make for the line-up we have known and loved ever since came to the fore. Peart joined just two weeks before Rush's first US tour and it was during this American jaunt that the guys played the infamous Agora Ballroom, Cleveland - a venue at which the group would go on to play numerous more shows during their formative years. At their 1974 booking however, radio station WMMS radio was on hand to broadcast the whole event across the airwaves and thus make this particular gig a somewhat notorious event as well as being Rush's very first radio broadcast.

The set played includes songs from their debut album, Rush, and features two early versions of cuts from their sophomore record, Fly by Night. The show also contained a cover of Larry Williams Bad Boy plus two excellent tracks that have never been released on any previous Rush release; the super-rare Fancy Dancer and Garden Road, both composed in their very earliest incarnation before Neal Peart joined. The package is completed by three bonus tracks from their second US broadcast, back at the ABC a year later - All three songs from the 1975 set originated on Fly By Night.

This rare recording is now available legitimately for the first time and with deluxe packaging, designed with the collector in mind.
