Review: RC2 was formed in Caracas, Venezuela (South America) during 1999. After a number of changes in personnel and geographic location (now located in Spain), the band was able to write and record new material and even managed to open for Dream Theater to a huge audience and

Review: Renaissance was the band formed by Jim McCarthy and Keith Relf following the split of the Yardbirds in 1968. The band recorded their first album the self titled Renaissance album in 1969. Following the album's release the band embarked on a series of live dates in Europe and America. In 1970 they also began recording their second album Illusion which received a limited release in Europe in early 1971. By the time the album was released the band had become so fragmented that none of the original members were left in the band! Renaissance would however continue with various line ups until stabilising in the early seventies with the line up that would go on to massive critical and commercial success led by vocalist Annie Haslam. This DVD features two different line ups of Renaissance. The first two clips come from German TV and feature the original line up performing the tracks Kings And Queens and Island. These are the only known performances captured on film of the original line up performing live albeit in a TV studio. The second piece of footage is even rarer in that it was originally thought that this footage was lost. The footage provides the link between the original line up of Renaissance and the later more successful line up of the mid to late Seventies and comes from a line up that lasted a mere three months.. This time the band now feature no original members but two members that would go onto bigger fame in the seventies. John Tout is featured on keyboards and guitarist Mike Dunford play alongside vocalists Terry Crowe and Binky Cullom, bassist Neil Korner and drummer Terry Slade. The band perform Kings and Queens from the first Renaissance album and also tracks from the second Renaissance album Illusion (Golden Threads, Mr Pine and Face of Yesterday) there is also a song never officially recorded by Renaissance Widdicombe fair making this release a real find for the large and dedicated Renaissance fan base.

Features 2 different line ups of the band, including the only known footage of the original line up. Also inlcudes a song never officially recorded by Renaissance called Widdicombe Fair. This is an essential purchase for any Renaissance fans, regardless of the line up.

Review: For those who love the music of Renassance, this may be an unknown treasure. This album was surely overlooked when it was released in 2001. But first.a history lesson : in 1971 the first carnation of Renaissance disbanded after the second album Illusion and was replaced by the line-up for which the band became famous for. In 1976 the original band reunited without Keith Relf who died tragically the previous year. The band was called "Illusion" just like the second Renaissance album. After delivering two excellent albums the band dissolved again. In 2001 the band was reformed a second time when Jim McCarthy found he had written some Renaissance like tunes that would fit in perfectly on an album of Illusion/Renaissance. Soon original Renaissance members Jane Relf, John Hawken & Louis Cennamo joined McCarthy on this project and also a lot of session musician were brought in. (ProgArchives)

Review: The first DVD of one of the most important progressive rock bands! Riverside, the band hailing from Warsaw, Poland, can best be described as a stylistic blend of atmospheric rock and metal elements, resulting in a sound similar to that of Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree, Opeth, Dream Theater, and Tool, while still maintaining an identity of their own. Since the release of their debut album, Riverside have built a solid fan base in progressive rock genre. In May 2008, the band went on a mini-tour across Poland. The most significant date of the tour was May, 17th when Riverside played a special, over-two-hour gig in Toya Studios in Lódz. The show was treated as a summary of the “Reality Dream Trilogy” (Out Of Myself – 2003, Second Life Syndrome – 2005 & Rapid Eye Movement - 2007). Apart from the great performance of the most important songs from the band’s three big releases, the band also prepared the best lighting in their live history with a few screens that showed some special visuals. The concert in Lódz was recorded and, so far, it was available in a limited audio only edition during their “Reality Dream Tour” in December 2008. Today, the fans of Riverside have a chance to see that special performance in its full glory as it is released as a double DVD. Apart from the complete performance in Lódz, “Reality Dream” DVD also includes a selection of live performances in various places around the world, including Canada, Germany and Holland, plus a documentary “Behind the Curtain – A film by John Vis” and a photo gallery. Experts have called Riverside a stylistic mix of Tool, Porcupine Tree and Dream Theater, but Mariusz Duda reckons that other influences are more dominant on “Anno Domini High Definition”: “We wanted to reflect the energy of the early 70's and combine it with modern sounds. Anno Domini High Definition sees Riverside take another step in the evolution of their extremely significant sound, documenting a total focus on the here and now. “We feel that we have something new to say, and lots of moments on this album feature a fresh approach to some things. Review: The DVD features an impressive performance, filmed in February 2009 at the Wyspianski Theatre in Katowice, where RPWL played as the headliner on the second day of the festival ProgRock 2009. The band's music definitely has its own style - modern, yet also drawing from the best traditions of the prog-rock genre. Review: The Road Home is both homage and crowning achievement in prog rock’s great exploratory tradition. Just as Emerson rearranged Tchaikovsky, Rodrigo, Janacek, Copland, Mussorgsky and “Lux” Lewis, Rudess decodes established classics while sculpting his own distinctive style.

With the help of today’s leading prog talents (including friend/musical partner, Dixie Dregs drummer Rod Morgenstein), Rudess re-envisions Genesis’ 1976 jolting, jiggery-pokery gem “Dance on a Volcano” (with former Spock’s Beard frontman Neal Morse on vocals); ELP’s apocalyptic epic “Tarkus” (featuring Kip Winger and Porcupine Tree’s Steven Wilson); Yes’ fusion-esque, Minimoog/electric piano extravaganza “Sound Chaser” (from the oft-overlooked Relayer record); and the aforementioned “Just the Same.”

As the kicker, a seamless piano medley fuses bits of the Jon Anderson vocal showpiece “Soon”, Crimson’s gentle, supernatural “I Talk to the Wind” (with vocals by Rudess), Yes’ “And You And I”, and Genesis’ sprawling “Supper’s Ready.”
