Returning in 2003 with his epic 2-CD masterpiece, Testimony (and the resulting 2-DVD concert), Neal continues to create some of the most critically acclaimed and successful music in modern progressive rock. Neal Morse is one of the most successful progressive rock artists of the last 25 years; and since 2003, the genre's most successful solo artist. Morse made his mark from out of the blue with his band's (Spock's Beard) first progressive rock outing, The Light. Spock's Beard went on to release an astounding 17 CDs and DVDs in less than 10 years with Morse at the helm.

Incorporating the legendary drummer Mike Portnoy and the excellent bassist, Randy George, this breathtaking album is a prog epic with depth that will dazzle and melodies that reach into the soul. Disc 1 - Testimony 2, the main disc tells us the oignant story of Neal’s life from the beginning of Spock’s Beard through when he left the band in 2002. The brilliant conceptual piece consists of 13 songs in three sections each over 20 minutes long. Disc 2 consists of 3 great tracks. Two shorter songs and one 26 minute prog epic, “Seeds of Gold” which features a guitar solo by famed guitarist, Steve Morse. This album marks the audio reunion of Spock’s Beard as it contains a “tribute” to Spock’s where Neal and the guys sing an elaborate vocal section that is reminiscent of the early days of the band. The DVD in the limited box set is 70 minutes DVD and provides an in-depth look behind the scenes of the creative process involved in making this amazing record.

Review: Neal Morse is known for many things. As founder of both Spock’s Beard and Transatlantic, he is known for his amazing talents on the keyboards and guitars as well as being the main vocalist and songwriter. However, he is also known as one of the world’s great front men and his live shows have reached legendary status. So, then, why have there been no live albums since his departure from the aforementioned bands? Well, only Mr. Morse knows the answer to that question; all we can say about this new live album, his first official live album as a solo artist, is “it’s about time”!

Review: For quite awhile people have been urging Neal to put together a CD that features the songs. You know, the song parts between the fiddly bits; the parts that the progfans wives listen to and say “hey, I actually LIKE that!” But when it came time to put the CD together, Neal was a bit at a loss as to what to put on there. Some songs were obvious (e.g. We All Need Some Light and Wind at My Back) but there were a lot of other candidates. After careful consideration and a little help from his friends, Neal came up with a fantastic collection of favorites that is sure to stay in the CD player good long time, as your wife isn’t likely to throw it out the car window!
