Review: The debut by this American band has been Kinesis’ fastest selling CD yet. Primary influences seem to be Genesis (somewhere between the Wind & Wuthering and the progressive parts of Duke) and Marillion. One can also hear bits of Yes, Renaissance, Rush and Pat Metheny. What sets Iluvatar apart from other 90’s progressives is the vocal/instrumental balance. In this regard Iluvatar’s compositions resemble classic Genesis more than anything else. Virtually every track has a long instrumental excursion, yet the songs remain accessable and full of energy. 57 minutes.
