Review: Esoteric Recordings are happy to release a new remastered edition of the self titled album by Progressive rock group AARDVARK. The band were an imaginative quartet comprising DAVID SKILLIN on Vocals, STEVE MILLINER on keyboards, STAN ALDOUS on Bass and FRANK CLARK on drums who came together in 1969. Driven by Steve Milliner’s keyboard playing ability, Aardvark’s only album was released in 1970 on Decca’s short lived progressive imprint DERAM NOVA. One of the best albums released on NOVA, “Aardvark” features such outstanding pieces as the evocative ‘ONCE UPON A HILL’, ‘MANY THINGS TO DO’ and the powerful album closing track; ‘PUT THAT IN YOUR PIPE AND SMOKE IT’. This reissue has been newly remastered from the original master tapes and features a booklet with fully restored artwork and new essay.

Review: Over one year ago, five young musicians from Skien, Norway, made a very impressive entrance into the Metal World with their debut album 'Ripples', released under the band name ‘Aspera’ by InsideOut Music. Media across the globe replied positively with numerous excellent reviews for 'Ripples' throughout 2010 and the band built up a great following, not only in their home country. Unfortunately the promotion activities and consequently also the coming live plans had to take a break, when it turned out that the band had to change its name due to unforeseen technical reasons. Review: The setlist for the ABWH tour was a Yes fan’s dream, including Starship Trooper, Heart Of The Sunrise, Close To The Edge, And You And I, Roundabout, and other Yes classics. Fans were also treated to tracks from the new ABWH album, including Brother Of Mine, Themes, The Meeting, Birthright, and more, along with stunning solo performances from the four principals. The concert was captured on video and originally released as a CD and VHS in 1994. Sadly, these products were only available for a short time before disappearing. But now 'An Evening Of Yes Music Plus' is available in all its glory. This is a double CD, complete with the original Roger Dean artwork, and contains a photo booklet with images of Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman, and Howe as they performed.

Review: After... was formed in 2002 in Wloclawek. In November 2005, they released their debut album "Endless Lunatic", featuring guest appearances by Colin Bass (Camel), Józef Skrzek (SBB) and Jacek Zasada (Quidam). To promote the album, the band played several concerts in Poland and Western Europe, sharing the stage, among others, with Fish, Quidam, Riverside, and Sylvan. In June 2008 their second studio album "Hideout" was released. The new album was very well received both in Poland and abroad. Their third studio album “No Attachments” marks the beginning of a new exciting era in the band's career. Review: Their first CD 'Endless Lunatic' oscillated towards neo-prog. The album featuring Colin Bass and Jozef Skrzek was brillantly received in Poland and abroad, especially aprpreciated in a prog-rock circle. Second release 'Hideout' headed towards a heavier prog-rock style.

Live At Home is the band's 3rd release. After the band played many concerts in Poland and Europe they decided to sum up their music activity. It contains the best tracks from both studio CD's and has excellent production by Zbyszek Florek of Quidam as well as artwork by Rafal Paluszek (Osada Vida). The digipak has a 32 page booklet. A great release!

Review: 'Hideout' is the second studio album of the prog-rock band AFTER from Poland. Their first CD 'Endless Lunatic' oscillated towards neo prog rock. The album featuring Colin Bass and Jozef Skrzek was brillantly received in Poland and abroad. 'Hideout' shows a more matured musical style of the band, is based on two guitars. The production (by Zbyszek Florek of Quidam, masterring done by Grzegorz Piwkowski) is excellent. Despite two faces of the album, one heavier and the second more 'traditional' prog, this is a great CD.

Review: So what we have here is a CD running just a tick over 46-minutes with ten tracks, most in the three or four minute range with the longest being six and half minutes. That being said, it’s quite amazing how much happens within these short songs. Agent Cooper are very adept at turning things on a dime within these confines. You don’t even really notice how short the songs are because there is so much going on. And it’s not that there is an over-the-top kind of complexity, no, it’s more that these songs seem to tumble, one segment into the next. Lots of nice, smooth shifts in time and tempo, but the one thing that holds this collection of songs together are the driving melodies. They are everywhere, in the slow songs, the mid-tempo ones and even in the up-tempo tracks. This is an amazingly balanced CD… (Progressive Land)

Review: Ajalon began in 1994 to create the music that they were passionate about. With their first CD release coming just 2 years later, through the efforts of Yes keyboard legend, Rick Wakeman, Ajalon proved that they had the talent to secure rotational airplay on over 50 radio networks in the UK alone. Many positive reviews and magazine write ups followed. Band members have appeared individually on other artist recordings with Steve Hackett, Adrian Belew, Paul Gilbert, Neal Morse, Mike Portnoy, Phil Keaggy and Michael Manring just name a few. With their third release the band wanted to make an album that speaks to everyone, leaving room for listeners to draw their own conclusions. Much life-changing experiences were brought to bear on this project making it unique and different. The performances and the songwriting is much heavier with a great deal of impact. Review: Upon listening, I was immediately impressed with their instrumentals as well as the vocal passages. It seemed they could do little wrong. The album seems to be balanced between the two and never gets overly burdened by one technique over another. It also seems its main members (Randy George and Wil Henderson) are multi-instrumentalists, switching between vocals, guitars, bass, and keyboards. Where their abilities end, they are quick to borrow from other talents in the genre (Phil Keaggy, Taylor Mesple, Brian Adderbury, Rick Wakeman, Lisa Green, W. Mark Wilson, Jeremy Cays, and Neal Morse). Also, let's not forget, Dan Lile, who reliably provides the drums on all, but one, of the tracks. With influences such as Yes, RWPL, and even IQ, it should substantially cover a wide pool of potential fans (Music Street Journal)

Review: Formed in 1998 in Lyon (France), AKIN is a “Progressive Rock/Metal” band whose members worship bands like Anathema, Porcupine Tree and Opeth. Their first demo CD, "Stanzas" enabled the band to sign up with Sacral Productions (FRA) to release "Verse" (2001), AKIN’s debut album based on the work of E.A.Poe, and then “Forecast” (EP - 2003) were both were honored by the French metal press as being top releases for their respective years. Such positive write-ups gave the band the opportunity to open for WITHIN TEMPTATION, DARK TRANQUILLITY, SINERGY, THE OLD DEAD TREE and EPICA in 2002 and 2003. Review: AltaVia formed in 2008 in a small town in northern Italy, when after leaving his former band, Andrea Stagni (keyboards and vocals) started searching for new musicians. Davide, local musician and friend, introduced him to Marcello Bellina (drums, vocals), Mauro Monti (guitars, vocals) and Giuliano Vandelli (bass), who accidentally were looking for a keyboard player for a new project. That just seemed to be a perfect match for everyone. After the first rehearsal sessions, they realised that even though they all came from different musical backgrounds, they were all eager to head in the same new direction. Backing vocalist Betty Copeta joined the band after a few months. Everyone's expertise was brought to the table, making AltaVia's sound a curious mixture of classic rock, old-style prog and pop. Two years later they had written 10 songs that they decided were worth putting on a record, and the debut album 'Girt Dog' was recorded.

Review: Amaran’s Plight is out with their new progressive CD Voice in the Light. The CD has elements of soft rock with a balance of symphonic and heavy overtones. The CD clocks in at 77 minutes and contains 13 tracks. The lyrics are mainly about a man’s life and the mystery surrounding his near death experience. There are both some fast songs and more emotional and memorable songs.

Musically we hear Shadow Gallery combined with a small touch of Pink Floyd and thanks to DC's voice also his fellow band members and they give the CD the unique touch. The record itself, like many concept records opens up with the fantastic “Room 316” overture, which immediately leads you into a journey.

Review: Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe as the name suggests is a collection of musicians who were important enough to warrant their name over the shop front. In this instance all four musicians were members of the classic line up of British rock band Yes. The idea for the band came about when vocalist Jon Anderson left Yes and brought the former members together. The band decamped to Montserrat and recorded what would be their debut self titled album which was released in 1989 just before embarking on a world tour where the band would perform the album and also classics from the Yes catalogue. The album performed well in the charts at the time of release and has become a favourite amongst the massive Yes fan base.

Review: Despite both Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman having extensive successful solo careers stretching back to the mid seventies both Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman will probably forever be associated with the Classic line up of British rock band Yes an throughout the seventies and for various periods in the eighties, nineties and beyond both artists enjoyed a fruitful and hugely successful working relationship as part of Yes. The duo however have worked together outside of Yes performing in the UK in 2006 performing both classics from the Yes catalogue and also selected items from the pairs individual solo catalogue. In 2010 it was announced that Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman were to tour together once more with the tour taking place at the end of the year. The tour featured material from their time with Yes but more importantly material from the duos then new album The Living Tree. From this tour a compilation of live highlights from the tour has been compiled and overseen by Jon and Rick. Review: Despite both artists having extensive successful solo careers stretching back to the mid seventies both Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman will probably forever be associated with the Classic line up of British rock band Yes. Throughout the seventies and for various periods in the nineties and beyond both members enjoyed fruitful working relationship as part of Yes. The duo however have worked together outside of Yes performing in the UK in 2006 performing both classics from the Yes catalogue and also selected items from the pairs individual solo catalogue.
